Clinton County 24-Hour Releases
There is no current official Clinton County online roster, 24-hour released view, or same-day archive. The official Inmate Information page instead directs the public to call 989-403-5090 for a release date, bail information, court appearance information, and visitation details. That phone route is the best first step for one known person. The broader Sheriff jail-information number, 989-227-6580, is a reasonable backup when the dedicated line is unavailable.
A same-day check must ask more than whether a name remains in the jail system. Clinton County Jail houses local prisoners and boarders for federal, state, and other county authorities. Someone can physically leave the jail in St. Johns and still be detained elsewhere. Ask for the recorded release date and whether the departure was a bond release, court-ordered discharge, sentence completion, or transfer. “Left the jail” and “returned to the community” are not equal findings.
For a scan of everyone released during one day, the public-record route is different. Ask whether an existing daily release report already exists for the exact interval. Michigan FOIA grants access to existing public records, subject to exemptions. It does not require the Sheriff to create a new 24-hour compilation.
Check Clinton County Daily Releases
Use a fixed start and end time before making the inquiry. “Today” can mean the calendar day so far, the prior 24 hours, or a jail business-day report. State the intended interval and time zone. - If transfer is possible, check the destination system. Use OTIS for MDOC custody, BOP for a sentenced federal prisoner, and the appropriate originating county for an outside boarder.

The County generally responds within five business days by granting, denying, granting in part, or issuing one extension notice of up to ten more business days. That is a response period, not a promise that records will be produced at once. Permitted labor and media charges can apply. The County policy caps letter or legal paper at $0.10 per sheet, and an estimate over $50 may require a deposit of up to half. Those are FOIA rules, not a set price for a release report.
MI-VINE can send a release, transfer, or escape alert when the reporting agency supports the event and the user registers while the person is in custody. It is prospective, not a permanent archive. OTIS serves a different role: it covers MDOC prison, parole, felony probation, and recent discharge records, but not a jail-only Clinton County case. Clinton County Release or Transfer
A current jail answer addresses custody at Clinton County Jail. A recorded local release date shows that one jail episode ended. Neither fact alone proves the person has no other hold. A bond release can return someone to the community while the court case continues. A court-ordered release or completed county sentence can do the same, unless another warrant or detainer applies. A detainer is a request or legal basis for another authority to take custody.
Transfers follow a separate chain. An MDOC transfer means the person remains incarcerated and may later appear in the Michigan Offender Tracking Information System. OTIS status fields such as `PRISON`, `PAROLE`, and `DISCHRG` concern MDOC jurisdiction, not the county booking. A federal transfer may lead through the United States Marshals Service and later BOP. Court records can show the legal event, yet the jail’s operational record remains the better source for the physical departure time.

Clinton Circuit Court posts an annual alphabetical list of bond agencies authorized to post bonds in Clinton and Gratiot counties. The list is distributed to jails each January. It helps a person identify an authorized bond channel, but it is not a same-day release log. Inclusion does not show that an agency posted bond for a named person.

Clinton County Release Roster History
A 2019 Clinton County document referred to “Police to Citizen – Jail mugshots.” That reference shows a prior platform existed or was contemplated. It does not establish a current roster. The present county quick links, sitemap, and Sheriff navigation do not expose a working Police to Citizen release list or mugshot feed.
Current instructions should therefore remain tied to the release-date phone channel and the County FOIA process. Old search results and saved links can outlive the service they once described. A broken or redirected historic page should not be used to claim fields, photos, retention, or update times for a present service.
